Students, we are just one week away from wrapping up this class! You will not be receiving a "final" in this class, so this will be your last English 2 assignment.

If you have MISSING assignments between Week 11 - Week 18, please submit them by May 31st. This is the last day that I will be accepting assignments.

Here is your final assignment:

In these past two months, you have experienced a life-changing global crisis that has impacted the world. Our daily routines, communication, and time spent look differently now than before. Take a moment to reflect... What have you learned throughout these past 2 months? What has this time of social distancing taught you? What do you want your future self to remember about this time? In this assignment, you will write a letter from your pandemic-era self to your future post-pandemic self.

INSTRUCTIONS: Write a one page letter to your future "post-pandemic" self reflecting on life during the Coronavirus pandemic. Please compose and submit this letter on google docs to Google Classroom AND submit your letter to futureme.org. When you go to Futureme.org please select the letter to be sent back to you in 5 years. (You may want to use a personal email as you will have already graduated high school by then.) Then, please take a screenshot of your futureme.org submission page and submit it here on google classroom.

Futureme.org will send you an email confirmation, make sure to click the link so they know it's you. Once you click the link in the email, it will send off your letter. You do not need to make an account!

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Unfortunately, school dismissal did not allow us to see each other's Speech presentation in person, but you are still able to view your classmates speech through Flipgrid! In this assignment, you will be choosing one peer's Speech video to watch (located on our Flipgrid class page) and then you will answer the questions in your Peer-Response Worksheet about what you learned.

Instructions: Watch ONE of your peers' Speech video on Flipgrid. Then, answer the 5 questions (+1 extra credit question) in your Peer-Response about what you learned. Please use complete sentences. Submit this to Google Classroom.

Flipgrid link: https://flipgrid.com/mrsveng2pd1

IMPORTANT:
Please DO NOT post a comment on the Flipgrid video. You will submit your response to me through google classroom. Responses will not be seen by anyone else, but Ms. C.

Since there is "no school" Friday and Monday for Memorial Day these assignments will be due Monday, 5/25 by 11:59pm.
If you wear glasses, like me, you know that throughout your day, the lenses will somehow find a way to get foggy / smudged. When I don't clean them right away, my sight is affected. It sometimes even changes my mood! Then, I clean them and I immediately see a difference!

This week, I invite us to "clean our lens" (perspective) from the "fogginess" of this uncertain time we are currently living in and begin to see the positive small moments in our days/week that we might have missed otherwise.

In this assignment, you will journal about 3 days OR "highlights" of this week OR past month with photos and a paragraph (of at LEAST 6 sentences or more) telling me about the photo. You may be creative with the color of your slides and titles.

*Another option for photos: You may google an image of something you would have taken a picture of and add them to the slides. For example: you may look up a picture of a person walking a dog, because you want to journal about walking your dog. (Using this option will not affect your grade!)

Here are a few questions you can reflect on in your responses:
1. What is this photo of?
2. Why did you take/add this photo?
3. Why is this moment special?
4. (If an activity) Is this something that has become a regular event now in your day?
5. (If an activity) Has this activity helped you to maintain a sense of peace / independence / joy throughout your week/day?
6. (If an activity) If you don't already do this activity regularly, is this something that you want to make part of your routine?
7. (If a person) Is this someone who you admire, look up to, spend a lot of time with now, etc?
8. When you look back on this moment, what do you want to remember?
9. Why is this moment a "highlight" for you?
10. How were you feeling before this moment, how were you feeling in this moment, how were you feeling after this moment?

**EXTRA CREDIT**
You may complete up to 2 more photo journal's for extra credit. Each extra journal is worth 5 points.

What is attached?:
-Video of instructions
-Ms. C's Photo Journal
Recently, a poem by Laura Kelly Fanucci went "viral." This poem is a reflection of what she believes we have taken for granted pre-Coronavirus lockdown and what she is looking forward to "when this is over." In this assignment, you will be creating your own take on this poem. Please read the instructions to understand what is expected. You should spend at least 30 minutes working on this assignment. Be honest, be creative, this is YOUR poem. I plan to compile a few lines from our poems and create our own "class poem."

Instructions:

1. Read the original poem by Laura Kelly Fanucci (attached below). Read it out loud, read it to others, read it a few times. You will find that there are 2 parts to this poem: 1. what the author believes we took for granted before the Coronavirus 2. what she hopes we as society/individuals will become "when this is over."

2. Be inspired. Write your own poem using Fanucci’s format (this is already formatted for you on the google doc attached below) that reflects about what YOU believe we may have taken for granted before the Coronavirus pandemic and, when this ends, what do you hope we as a society will become?

3. Your poem MUST INCLUDE A MINIMUM of 12 ideas for the first part of the poem (what we took for granted) and A MINIMUM of 4 ideas for the second part (what we will hopefully become when this is over). You are more than welcomed to write more than the minimum requirement!

4. (Optional) Once you've completed the minimum requirements, you may format the poem. Change the font and/or change the color, even the title!

To begin:
1. Open "WhenThisIsOver.png" and read the original poem by Laura Kelly Fanucci or open "Video Instructions" to hear me read instructions and the poem.
2. When you are ready, open the google doc and begin to write.

What is attached?
-Poem by Lauren Kelly Fanucci (Read)
-Ms. C reading the poem & instructions (Watch)
-Ms. C’s “When this is over...” Poem (Example)
-Google doc for your assignment (Write)
