Los Angeles Area Extreme Heat Warning

Dear Whittier Union families,

The National Weather Service has declared an Extreme Heat Warning for the Los Angeles area effective immediately and in effect through 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9.

To ensure the safety of our students, the following protocols will be in place during periods of high heat:

  • PE classes will be moved inside for the next three days.
  • Athletics will follow WUHSD Heat Guidelines for practices and contests.
  • Students are encouraged to stay indoors, seek shade when outdoors and stay hydrated.
  • Water filling stations are available throughout campus. Students are also encouraged to bring their own refillable bottles each day.
  • Students in PE and athletics will have frequent water breaks.

Students who experience any of the following symptoms, or see these signs in their friends, should notify a staff member immediately.
