Born in Dodge City, Kansas, aka the Cowboy Capital of the World, and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, I ventured out of the Land of Enchantment to the Golden State on a scholarship to Whittier College, where I pursued a degree in history with an emphasis in gender studies. Involvement in student government, volunteer work, and externships at local museums and childcare centers paved the way for my passion for education. After completing my graduate studies at Claremont, I began my career as a proud Lady Don at El Rancho High School.
Over the years, I have taught everything from AP European History, Honors World History, and Sociology to Geography, Government, and Economics, while taking on roles as a class advisor, Academic Decathlon coordinator, assistant coach, and improv supporter.
Now, with over 20-plus years in education, I teach AP World History and Foundations: Ethnic Studies/Global Issues at La Serna High School in Whittier, CA.
