PREVENTION & INTERVENTIONS
As a Professional Learning Community La Serna High School places our focus on the 3 R's: RELATIONSHIPS, RIGOR, and RELEVANCE. Our goal is to provide the best comprehensive high school experience to help ALL of our students BE THEIR BEST and to prepare them for life. Several years ago we embarked on extensive staff development which included examining school data, reading extensive educational research on proven practices (Rick DuFour, Doug Reeves,Willard Daggett, Raymond McNulty, James Collins), several visits to an exemplary school (Adlai Stevenson High School), and surveying our students and parents.
Beginning in the fall of 2005, La Serna implemented school-wide systematic programs to stretch learning for ALL students and provide support systems to ensure their success. The Prevention and Intervention programs are dynamic in nature and we are always adjusting and fine tuning our programs in order to provide the services our students need.
